Abstract
In the field of national security, polygraph examinations play a significant role in identifying and managing security threats, therefore it is timely and relevant to examine the effectiveness and applicability of the tools in the field of modern technological developments, security challenges, legislative changes and scientific research. In the interest of further development, I consider it important to describe the current polygraph examination protocol so that users can use it more consciously. The aim of the article is to provide an overview of the complexity and scientific background of the polygraph examination. In the first part, I review the brief history of the polygraph. After that, I discuss the procedure of the polygraph examination in detail in order for those interested in the examination to get a more accurate picture of its course and methodology. Finally, by describing the practical experience gained so far, I present its limitations and the relevance of the conclusions drawn based on the results of the polygraph examination. At the end of the article, I examine possible future challenges.
