The Hungarian state security service suspected the Austrian man of espionage, so the counterintelligence service kept him under investigation. Counter-espionage used the available secret forces and tools, from the methods of obtaining technical information to the tool system of human intelligence. Their measures
included wiretapping the man’s hotel rooms and telephone conversations, monitoring his movements in the country, employing agents, as well as observing the persons who came into closer contact with the Austrian businessman.
