Definition of Infrastructure, Application, and Content Providers in the Terms of Lawful Monitoring
Abstract
The internet-based services, particularly the cloud computing have significantly changed our everyday life and communication habits. With the recent technologies a new serviceprovider structure has been established, to which the lawful monitoring has to be adjusted. This article describes the need for the amendment of Act C of 2003 on electronic communications, reviews the currently available definitions of the content-, infrastructure-, and application service-providers included in the new service-provider model, and proposes new, appropriate definitions in terms of lawful monitoring which could be integrated into the law.
