Abstract

National security services tend to emphasis that one of their fundamentals is secrecy, which is obviously against publicity. In this essay we intend to show, how the services communicate with public, and we intend to scrutinize whether the first statement has a justification or certain fixed attitudes deriving from the past are still stronger. Almost everybody has an opinion concerning the information society, the internet, or the effects of these on our lives, even though whether they have ever used a computer, a smart phone or the internet or not. Getting information is an important part of our everyday life. We have to reach them on time no matter what are we doing or where are we staying. This phenomenon has influenced the national security services, so they need to have websites, where people who are interested can reach the necessary information about them. This essay shows the relationship between national security services and public, with analysing the websites of certain foreign and the hungarian national security services. We focus on the issue, how the hungarian legal regulations and publicity of hungarian national security services assist the effective fulfilment of monitoring and intelligence tasks.
