Abstract

“It is of criminal importance for practitioners of law enforcement to master the language of criminals as it is indispensable to make their work easier and successful since, on the one hand, it enables them to change information without misunderstanding, on the other hand, detectives, the secondary users of the argot, may gain reputation as by it.” (Mátételkiné 2006: 240) It is common knowledge that there are two members involved in the process of law enforcement: a criminal and a detective. During my work I examined how a recidivist’s language changed as a result of the vocabulary and way of speaking used many times during the communication with practitioners of law enforcement.
