Abstract
Community activities carried out within religious extremist networks as well as the travel to conflict zone outside Europe largely contributed to the radicalization of the perpetrators of the January 2015 Paris attacks, the series of attacks committed in Paris on 13 November 2015 and the Brussels bombings in the next year. None of the series of attacks can be linked exclusively to a single ‘mastermind’ because the planning and implementing of the attacks were much more the result of a team process.
