Abstract
While examining the factors affecting crime, in most cases the geographical factors are not stressed enough. The current study aims to focus on the settlement structures as one of the geographical factors affecting crime. (Within this it will focus on the connection between the settlement structure and certain national security factors.) The importance of this factor is clearly underlined by the fact that even a hundred years ago, certain researchers seemed to discover close connections between the settlement structure and the number and structure of crimes. Among our settlements by its extension the capital is the ‘settlement’ on which we can show most vividly the connection between settlement structure and criminality.
