Tourism for Cold War Intelligence

doi: 10.32561/nsz.2019.3.7

Abstract

The relationship between the two superpowers, the United States of America and the Soviet Union did not allow the development of global tourism after the end of World War II between the two superpowers. In Hungary, especially until the 1960s, there were very strict rules for travelling abroad. The Hungarian Government has made every effort to strengthen the control over tourism. But did this prevent the intelligence services from gaining information under cover of limited tourism?
