Intelligence cooperation among the member states of the Warsaw Pact was a very effective one. The main responsibilities of the intelligence and counterintelligence agencies of the member states were determined in accordance with the Warsaw Pact. Albania withdrew from the Warsaw Pact in 1968 and ended its intelligence relations with the member states. The countries establishing the Warsaw Pact included the People's Socialist Republic of Albania, the People’s Republic of Bulgaria, the People’s Republic of Czechoslovakia, The Polish People's Republic, The Hungarian People's Republic, the German Democratic Republic, the Romanian People's Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
