The Impact of Natural Disasters on Society and Historical Events
79 AD Mount Vesuvius Volcanic Eruption Events and Their Impact
Abstract
The science of history examines historical events with wide range of methods. Among the methods and supporting sciences we can hardly hear that a social phenomena or historical event has been examined though the impacts of a close disaster. The question arises: is there a correlation between phenomenon of a society and the preceding disasters. In this article the author examines through the example of an ancient volcanic eruption-disaster (79 AD Vezuv eruption) what are the basic values that can be impacted by disasters and what are the further consequences. Moreover, the author also analyzes whether such examinations of these events and the succeeding can result in new scientific outcomes in the science of history.
