A Few Words about Football Hooliganism

Abstract
According to the preamble of Hungary’s sports law, “sport is part of the common good, which strengthens the sense of belonging of the members of the community, as well as the physical and mental health of the individual”. However, reading the preamble of the law – as practising security professionals – we immediately thought of a possible downside to the experience of belonging together, the issue of sports hooliganism, which so often disrupts the order of sporting events. It is a problem that concerns both the academic world and the large number of private and public security players directly involved in it. In this study, the background of football hooliganism is examined and conclusions are drawn by presenting foreign examples and analysing them from a theoretical and practical perspective.
