Basic Training for Non-Commissioned Police Officers in Germany

Abstract

The author presents the most important data of police officers’ basic training in a German
educational institution, with an outlook for the larger police environment in Germany. The
conditions for being admitted to the non-commissioned police officers’ staff are also
introduced. The paper analyses the curriculum of the institution, the major stages of training,
the subjects and their role in covering some of the more important topics. It also discusses the
system of examinations and the number of lessons allocated to the main subjects.
