Abstract

The author provides a picture of the life of the College of Police Officers (RTF), of which he was its director from 1997 to 2005, spanning the last five years of the 20th century and the first five years of the 21st century. Previously, he himself was a full-time student at the institution, graduating with honors from a so-called “red degree”. He served as head of department and institute at the RTF and the successor Faculty of Law Enforcement (RTK) of the National Civil Service University for decades, and from 2012 to 2015 he was the deputy dean of education at RTK. In his writing, he touches on the main stages of the path leading to the first - and at the same time successful - accreditation competition of the institution, through which the RTF could become an officially recognized, integral part of the Hungarian higher education system. Taking into account the possibilities provided by the size constraints, we are talking about another process worth highlighting in the life of the College, which received the Hungarian Law Enforcement Society as a gestor at the time of its establishment, as well as changes compared to previous periods.
