Close Protection in the System of Law Enforcement – Overview and Situation Assessment

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to present the relevant actors of personnel protection and position them on the palette of (state) law enforcement. The work covers all the important organizations and institutions, introducing and comparing them by different points of view, including similarities and main differences. However, this work basically describes the theoretical side of the field; it is being complemented by – through some examples – a practical part that helps the better understanding of the topic. In addition to all this, the article contains a brief summary of the most relevant historical events and changes, aiming the normative development of personnel protection from the early 1990s till the present days.
