The Pioneer of the Hungarian Police Science, Karvasy Ágoston

Abstract

Ágoston Karvasy’s book, A közrendészeti tudomány (The Science of Public Policing), which was published in 1862, was the first significant study of the history of Hungarian law enforcement. The work of this prominent legal academic established the theory of law enforcement. Police science is analysed in his book in accordance with contemporary requirements. My paper presents his life and his academic achievements.
