The current opinion is that mediation is particularly suitable in the field of family disputes. Inheritance disputes are both emotionally and financially sensitive family law matters with high emotional conflict escalation level equivalent to divorce disputes. Some authors suggest that legal disputes should be described as particular disagreement in opinions, in which the claim of one party related to a legal right or a legal fact is being rejected by the other party of the dispute. The common feature of succession disputes is that these conflicts arise and are dealt with within a family circle. The concept of an extended family includes divorced people, their new and pre-existing families, registered and non-registered partnerships, children born in marriages as well as born in unregistered partnerships. Mediation is quicker than court proceedings, it is easier to appoint and hold meetings, and decisions are made faster. It is worth to emphasize that even if a peaceful agreement is not achieved, mediation can have a tremendous positive effect and benefit for both parties by opening the eyes of both the lawyer and the client to understand the core reasons of the dispute.

The study was written to achieve two goals at the same time. On the one hand, it makes an attempt to present the history of the Hungarian criminal legal regulation of life imprisonment from the publishing of the 1878 Criminal Code written by Karoly Csemegi (“Csemegi-kódex”) until our days and on the other it analyses the verdicts made by the Debrecen Regional Court of Appeal from the point of view of imposing life imprisonment. The study contains the examination of 32 cases concerning 39 accused persons. 7 of the defendants were sentenced to life imprisonment without parole as a final and non-appealable judgement. The findings derived from the analyses of the cases are contained in the tables shown in supplements I-XIV. According to the conclusion the regulations of Act C 2012 are suitable to accomplish the aims of punishment in every aspect.

A terheltek közül hét esetben került sor jogerősen tényleges életfogytig tartó szabadságvesztés alkalmazására. Az ügyvizsgálatokkal kapcsolatos megállapításokat az 1—14. mellékletben feltüntetett táblázatok tartalmazzák. Az összegző megállapítás szerint az ügyvizsgálatokból is kitűnik, hogy a 2012. évi C. törvényben is szereplő szabályozás minden vonatkozásban alkalmas a büntetési célok érvényre juttatására.

Several European police organizations have realized that the traditional way of public assembly management and the old strategies and tactics of riot control are obsolete. Crowd control operations cannot be purely based on coercive power. The police as one of the defenders of the rights to freedom of assembly and speech had to look for new methods to achieve their aims. Nowadays new police strategies and tactics based on communication, dialogue, and facilitation supported by the results of social sciences have become widespread all over the European Union.

Európa számos országában felismerték az erő alkalmazásán és a kényszerítésen alapuló tömegkezelési stratégia és taktika tarthatatlanságát. Az európai rendőrségeknek, mint a gyülekezési és szabad véleménynyilvánítási jog védelmezőinek, a közelmúltban új eljárások után kellett nézniük, és teljesen új koncepciók mentén megszervezniük tömegkezelési gyakorlatukat. Európában, a társadalomtudomány eredményeivel megtámogatva, egyre inkább teret nyernek azon rendőrségi stratégiák és taktikák, amelyek a kommunikációra, a párbeszédre, valamint a facilitációra alapoznak. The study intends to address the complex issue of migration, one of the important fields of police work. What are the practical and ethical questions of migration and how does their consideration impact the efficiency of police work? Since there are several issues of ethical nature, the author highlights the ethical aspects of migration. In the paper he intends to emphasise that ethical aspects are inalienable part of migration and that their permanent consideration in police work has positive impact on efficiency and success.

Ágoston Karvasy’s book, A közrendészeti tudomány (The Science of Public Policing), which was published in 1862, was the first significant study of the history of Hungarian law enforcement. The work of this prominent legal academic established the theory of law enforcement. Police science is analysed in his book in accordance with contemporary requirements. My paper presents his life and his academic achievements.

This article gives a short overview on the reform of customs union management — initiated in 2012 and still ongoing — presenting the current results and invoking the next steps. The customs union from its establishment in 1968 developed organically and thus the control of the system requires constant intervention and development, even today. After the Lisbon Treaty entered into force, the role of the EU Commission became even more decisive in the field of customs union. The current stage of the customs union governance reform intends to reconsider the relationship between the EU Commission and the Member States and to strengthen the role of the Member States; the primary forum of this work will be the Customs Policy Group meetings.

Cikkemben a vámunió irányításának 2012-ben megkezdett — és jelenleg is zajló — reformjáról adok rövid áttekintést, bemutatva az elért eredményeket, felvillantva a jövő kérdéseit. A vámunió 1968-as létrejöttétől kezdve szervesen fejlődött, és így a rendszer irányítása folyamatos beavatkozást és fejlesztést igényelt, s igényel ma is. A lisszaboni szerződés hatálybalépését követően az Európai Bizottság szerepe felértékelődött a vámunió területén is. A vámunió irányítási reformjának jelenleg folyó szakasza a bizottság és a tagállamok viszonyának újragondolását és a tagállamok szerepének erősítését célozza, ennek elsődleges fórumává pedig a Vámpolitikai Csoport üléseit teszi.
