Still the Same Problems... Police Morality in the Light of Civil Service Ethics

  • Nándori Nikoletta Petra

Abstract

Police roles and morality are crucial for the work and public perception of the police. Social processes make the renewal of morality necessary, which, in our case, also means the reinstatement of what was formerly missing. From the moral/ethical issues affecting the police I will discuss the ones I considered the most important according to opinions of policemen and policewomen (154 case studies). These topics are as follows: the relationship between law and morality, leadership and authority, corruption and prejudice. I discuss these topics based on widely-known examples from media.
