The Beginning of the Hungarian Police Scientific Review: the “Közbiztonság”

Abstract

The scientific studies about the history of communication are very important sources for those experts who research the history of sciences, and thus is the case with law enforcement. It is a fact that the “Közbiztonság”, which was edited by József Forster and published in 1869, was the first Hungarian police journal. The main purpose of this paper is to show the circumstances of its beginning and the brief history of the journal, the main articles on aspects of the history of policing, and the Thaisz-Forster libel case that caused the expiry of the “Közbiztonság”.
