Brain Fingerprinting: Its Neurobiological Underpinning, the P300 Brainwave and its Applicability in the Criminal Justice System

Abstract

The aim of the current article is to overview the brain fingerprinting technique, and to show the potential areas of application and limitations in the area of detection of concealed information (hidden memory traces) in the brain. We review the most prominent features of the P300 brainwave, which is at the core of the brain Fingerprinting technique. Furthermore, we overview how these features make possible to detect hidden memory contents (i.e. concealed information) by using the P300 brainwave.
