Abstract
With the vertical and horizontal expansion of urbanisation, disasters of civilisational and natural origin are increasingly having an impact in terms of their course and intensity. Prevention, control and eradication require more and more organisations with technical backgrounds and more human resources.
Today, disasters threatening the population on a wide spectrum, pose many tasks to the Technisches Hilfswerk, a technical assistance organisation in Germany and in many parts of the world. In order to meet complex challenges, the organisation combines executive and advanced technologies in various intervention and rescue units.
In this article, the author attempts to analyse the possibilities of adapting the THW’s technical capabilities through the UN INSARAG and the Hungarian national certification system to volunteering, rescue organisations and rescue teams in Hungary.
