Abstract

This article intends to present some of the most important developments in the period between 16 June and 15 September 2018 concerning the case law of the European Court of Human Rights, such as, in respect of Hungary, decisions concerning the requirement to exhaust a specific type of the constitutional complaint, the courts’ obligation to provide reasons for their refusal to refer a question for preliminary ruling, as well as a judgment concerning the unjustified protraction of pre-trial detentions and a potential pilot procedure pertaining to that issue. As regards cases from other countries, the present review gives a brief summary of a judgment concerning surveillance and interception of communications and acquisition of communications data,
and the relevant requirements under Articles 8 and 10 of the Convention.
