The Force Protection from Flight Safety Point of View

doi: 10.32560/rk.2025.1.8

Abstract

This study examines the similarities and differences in risk management, decision-making, and information management within the NATO standardisation system, within the context of the
relationship between aviation safety in military environment and the force protection. Both
fields serve to maintain operational effectiveness but operate with different risk concepts and
toolkits; aviation safety primarily manages risks arising from unintended events, while force
protection reduces vulnerability to intentional threats. The article highlights the common
structural framework and mindset of risk management processes, procedural documentation, training, and defence in depth, while emphasising the fundamental differences in objectives and decision-making mechanisms.
