History of Rotary-Wing Vehicles Until 1907

Abstract

Longing for flying is as old as humanity itself. Man has been yearning for centuries to conquer the realm of air. Many people have tried it but without success. Flying is one of the most typical way of vertical take-off and landing. The paper will review the historical purpose of rotorcraft from the beginning until 1907 when the French Paul Cornu lifted into the air for a few moments with his twin-rotor helicopter.
