Abstract

As a possible continuation (educational way) of the development of Masat-1, the first Hungarian satellite, we have decided to develop a pocketqube-class satellite called Smog-1 at Budapest University of Technology and Economics. The maximal mass of the 5 cm-pocketqube is 175 g. The main task is to develop and realize the single-point failure tolerant subsystems of the satellite as electrical power system, on-board computer, measurement system and radio-communication system. The payload of the Smog-1 will be a spectrum monitoring system, which is able to measure the RF signal level between 430 and 860 MHz frequency range, where the digital terrestrial TV transmitters are working on. These TV transmitters cause RF smog because of the radiation pattern of its antenna (some part of the transmitted power is going to the space, so it is lost).
