Solar Impulse

Abstract

The perspective use of environmentally pollutant fossil fuels is also limited because less and less can be exploited in the next years and due to it its price will be continuously higher and higher. Considering this, it is worth paying more and more attention to alternative energy sources. This was the cause that some Swiss aviation specialist, working for several years on the project, created an aircraft with fully solar cells covered wing surface. The result was an aircraft, which with its electric engines, collecting and partly storing the solar energy, capable of flying day and night. At first they flew to a neighbouring country and later to another continent. This year they attempt of flying around the globe with their electric powered aircraft called Solar Impulse.
