The Fractal Dimension of the Air Accidents

Abstract

To avoid air accidents has high priority in aviation. For this reason controlled processes are applied at all fields of the aviation and the efficiency of this controlled system is confirmed by the indexes of conventional statistic analysis. However aviation security is influenced by several factors. It is affected by people, by technical equipments, by the weather and of course by the incidences. These factors constitute a complex system where it is difficult to make distinction between the incidences and the noisy but deterministic occasions. In the present research it is examined by the tools of the chaos and complexity science if air accidents are incidences or it is possible to find some patterns in them. By the exploration of these patterns it could be possible to reduce the number of air accidents.
