Literature Review of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis

Abstract

Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) is one of the most efficient ways to analyse problems in the technical world. The method has a long history, its application can be found in several industrial territories. With its help the malfunction of a process or product can be observed, leading us closer to their solutions. Firstly this publication handles with the history of failure mode and effects analysis, then its general execution is discussed. The goal of this article is the review of the lately released publications. The vast majority of these articles are critical of this analysis. This publication collects the withdrawals of the method. Then some suggestions that can reduce its deficiencies are introduced, especially the fuzzy FMEA method.
