Modern Passive Radar Techniques

Abstract

Nowadays the non-cooperative passive radar systems represent a significant trend in the modern radars. This can be attributed to the widespread of the illuminator signals which have wide bandwidth and apply digital modulation techniques. The emergence of the modern signal processing architectures had also a key role in the development of these systems. This paper gives a short introduction to the current development situation of the passive radars, including the analysis of the illuminator of opportunity. We demonstrate the applicability of passive radars with presenting experimental results carried out with a DVB-T based system.
