Secondary Information Sources in Airspace

doi: 10.32560/rk.2019.1.9

Abstract

Airspace traffic and saturation are growing, putting ever greater challenges on its participants. Tracking the position and movement of civil and military aircraft is "classically" based on primary data measured by radars - and is not expected to change in military aviation. At the same time, civil aviation systems can also be used for self-reporting systems that can provide information in the absence of radar coverage. Participants in public, small and large-scale drone flying are sharing their GNSS-based data with airspace users and can greatly contribute to increased security with ground control. These are presented in the article, supplemented by the experience gained during the university research and development.
