Abstract
Oscar Regele, called Regele Oszkár by his brothers in arms in Pozsony, served together with his Hungarian military engineering comrades on various fronts of the First World War. They fought together both on the Serbian and the Italian fronts, and he led Hungarian military engineers during crossing the Danube. In the interwar period, he was the Austrian military attaché in Budapest. His career was completed after the Second World War, when he became the director of the War Archive (Kriegsarchiv), and the director-general of the Austrian State Archive (Österreichisches Staatsarchiv).
