One of the Last Bridges of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy
Abstract
One of the most remarkable military engineering events of the First World War was the demolition and subsequent temporary reconstruction of the railway bridge at Solkan. In a unique turn of events, the military engineering troops of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy had to reconstruct the same bridge, which their own brothers in arms had detonated before. According to our knowledge, both troops did a good job, thus it is worth remembering their deeds on the upcoming anniversary of these events.
