The Environmental Effects of Warfare (Examples from the Second half of the 20th Century to Present)
Absztrakt
It is beyond question that the conduct of war has significant effects on the environment, given the main objective of war has always been victory and everything apart from it was irrelevant. Although, recently there are attempts for environmentally conscious thinking, except these are true only for advanced military forces, so far. The article presents a few examples from the middle of the 20th century to show what environmental impacts have been brought on the ecosystem of each regions affected by the wars on larger scale on Earth and what forms of damage were typical of these conflicts. The author discusses issues in a chronological order.
