The main focus of this article is the analysis of the structure of prostitution in Turkey, especially in Istanbul. The one-year empirical research is embedded in the particular legal and historical background to explain the current trends in a comprehensible way. Unfortunately Turkish criminology and sociology still neglect the field of legal and illegal forms of today’s prostitution. The Turkish government is working on the dismantling of the remnants of the legal Turkish prostitution industry. This is paradoxical, since illegal prostitution is much more competitive, popular and lucrative. The strict rules of legal prostitution make it less competitive.

Is there any reason to use the phrase “order protection” (rendvédelem) instead or beside law enforcement (rendészet) in Hungarian? What does it really mean? My personal opinion is: it is unnecessary and disturbing. In the second part of my paper I am examining the correlation — as the legal basis of the police action — between the scope of authority and power of authority. In the third part of my paper I will write about the differences and content of the public safety and public order.

In the field of law enforcement coordinated work is the basis of professional efficiency. That is the reason why being acquainted with social psychological processes, which can serve as obstacles in group decision making, is a must. Sometimes group thinking is present in closely united groups or cases of great significance. In these situations, individuals tend to overrate the viewpoint held by the group as opposed to theirs in order to negotiate with consent. The decision-maker team can see the agreement as inviolable not letting criticism intrude. In extreme cases this can create capital errors in decision. By being familiar with the mechanisms that go with group thinking these errors could be avoided and possible mistakes be fixed.

The article is an introduction to an ongoing European project in which representatives of Hungary took part for a year in 2015. The project focuses on in-prison education of sentenced minors and young adults in order to them being more employable and motivated in their lives and work. The Hungarian team (researchers and academics of the National University of Public Service, Eötvös Loránd University and FORESEE Research Group) is responsible for providing the scientific background of the project, which is now in the phase of implementation of a chosen educational methodology. The authors in this article would like to provide an hors d’oeuvre to the reader with presenting the results of a questionnaire distributed among minors during the summer of 2015, based on which the methodology has been chosen.

The study represents the results of the group-representations of the policemen participated in the 18/09/2006 clash. We created two representative-groups from policemen participated in the clashes of 18/09/2006: one group included policemen who took an active role in the protection of the HQ; the other included policemen-reserves on the scene. We used half-structured interview-technics. The texts were analysed according to the sequential-transformative-model. The groups constructed both different and similar components of social representations concerning the events.

China does not have immigration law or asylum law, and it does not permit dual citizenship. In Chinese laws and official documents, the word “immigrant” is seldom used. When referring to immigrants, Chinese law consistently calls them “foreigners” and defines them as anyone who does not have Chinese citizenship or who are stateless persons. A similar definition may be found in the legal regulations of many countries (e.g., Hungary 1993, Germany 1990, Austria 1992). In immigration control, relevant government authorities pay more attentions to managing foreigners’ behaviours in the process of entry, residency and departure. To be specific, China’s policies on immigration include the management of foreigners’ entry, transit, residence, employment, travel, study, departure and so on.

Unilateral protection of border is costly and insufficiently effective. Therefore, counteraction to numerous cross-border threats will be provided in case of the joint protection of the Ukrainian-Hungarian border by border guard divisions of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and units of Border Police of Hungary. Their cooperation is performed in forms of investigation of violations of the border regime, interaction during control of the border crossing, joint patrolling and exchange of information. In order to achieve the goal of the joint protection of the state border of Ukraine and Hungary, it is necessary to implement an effective scientifically grounded system of counteraction to cross-border threats which would be adequate, foreseeing and flexibly reacting to changes of the situation.

Criminal geography as a discipline has a three-decade long history in Hungary. It is a welcome fact that the number of publications dealing with criminal geography has increased, it is already taught at universities and soon the university textbook of the subject will be finished. Hopefully, this favourable trend will continue and criminal geography will become a widely-respected and studied discipline which will contribute to the decrease of criminal acts.

Police career requires renouncement and considerable endurance, thus, it is essential for would-be police officers to be motivated and committed to police work and to have adaptive coping mechanisms. I carried out my research on the first day of the basic training amongst full time police students in 2011. My aim was to learn how motivated and committed these freshman students were, what stress coping mechanisms they had, and what extent of self-esteem they possessed. According to my research findings, police students arrive with great motivation, their self-esteem is high, and they possess problem-solving coping strategies.

This study undertakes to analyse, in the context of previous research carried out in the subject of the pastoral care service in the police force, the regulatory framework within which the veneration of saints is manifested in the Hungarian Police. The teaching of the Catholic Church is becoming more and more important since police work is influenced by ethical issues such as migration, immigration, the situation of minorities.

There are interdisciplinary contacts between Law Enforcement and Applied Linguistics as well. Forensic linguistics as an independent discipline helps law enforcement activities. It is quite certain that the role of forensic linguistics in law enforcement will grow in Hungary, too, in the future. That is why it seems to be indispensable to introduce an innovative post-gradual training in forensic linguists. The most suitable institution for this purpose could be the National University of Public Service.

The Disaster Management Act of 2011 fundamentally changed the structure of the emergency management system and complementary regulations now include mandatory functions. One of the elements of this renewed structure is the Disaster Management Operational Service (DMOS), which entered operational phase as a separate organisational body in every Hungarian county as well as the capital on April 1, 2012. The county directorates are obliged to run a standby service to have professionals on duty at all times in 24/48 shifts. DMOS actions can be intervention in fire emergencies, technical rescue, exercises, control activities and the fire investigation.
