Abstract

The paper sheds light on the multidisciplinary nature of the career, and presents the major disciplines that have examined the topic. The theoretical models presented here can be used as a starting point for empirical studies of police careers and intra-organisational mobility. In addition to describing the main approaches of career research, the paper marks that which approach can have explanatory power for certain intra-organizational phenomenon of police force. The study aims to provide an alternative to the existing approaches in the field of police science, which scientific theories can be used to interpret the different career phenomena in the police organisation.
