Abstract

The law enforcement agencies must use selection criteria to assess the suitability and relative merit of all applicants for the position. Regulations outline the mandatory standards to be applied when recruiting and selecting staff for employment. These organisations must also conduct a health assessment of the recommended applicant before an offer of employment. In this historical article, the author attempts to present the most important steps in the history of the Customs Officers Eligibility Test from the beginning to the first set of medical and mental requirements.
