Efficient or Effective Criminal Investigation
Abstract
The statistical view deduces the efficiency of criminal investigation from the homogeneous result of data obtained from the certain crimes. It is seized from a structured and measurable dimension, it neither represents the characteristics of cases nor the time and energy devoted to it, nor the conditions of authority. The hierarchic and rigid nature of sphere of authority and competence rules do not appear in the evaluation of efficiency. The „ability” of criminal investigation measured by such principles,as a performance indicator, cannot be a determinant of diagnosing effectiveness, it is a complete dead-end to overestimate it, its deductions can be misunderstood.
