Criminology in the Higher Policing Education

Abstract

The following study presents the developing of the education of criminology course in the scientific life of the former Police High School and the National University of Public Sciences. It emerges from his overview, a how considerable role this subject played in the policing education from the beginnings until now, and it is, that the country’s most renowned criminologist took part in the forming of the educational syllabus. The education of the coming police officers is proceeding about university frameworks building upon the previous good traditions in our days. The situation of our faculty is unique in Hungary, because most of our students will face the sin and the criminality in the course of their career, take part in the process of the crime prevention and/or the criminal investigation, so they can apply their criminological knowledge in their work certainly.
