Abstract

Epilepsy is one of the disorders involving imputability. Although there are evidences which confirm that violent behaviour and criminal acts can correlate with severe mental disorders (Filley C., 2001; Markus R. et al., 2008), we still know very little about the exact neurobiological background of anti-social behaviour. In our clinical research, we investigated the comprehensive psychosocial condition and the quality of life of epileptic patients on a representative sample. Besides this, we also examined the social support and the context of underlying family dynamics. There are few scientific evidences concerning epilepsy and the prevalence of violent behaviour. After reviewing the literature and the data of S. Fazel’s research (2011), we can draw authoritative conclusions on this issue.
