Abstract

The Russian Police Force has been undergoing changes and modernisation in the last few years; it has been gradually transforming its image. The reforms introduced during Dmitry Medvedev’s presidency were mainly aimed at improving public opinion and acceptance of police activities. The paper summarises the transformation of the Russian Police Force, carried out up to the present time based on Russian and German media coverage (news and publications), public survey data, the two versions of the Russian Police Act and the Code of Ethics for the Russian internal affairs organisations, It makes an attempt to outline the expectations related to it as well as the reception of its results by the public.
