Does It Exist or Not? Thoughts on Gypsy Crime at a Conference

  • János Bozorádi

Abstract

The author is a practising law enforcer, who is faced with the attitude of gipsy criminals, and the social prejudice against them day by day. As a policeman, he experiences the heightened social tension; therefore he considers it more useful to face the problem of gipsy crime, and to call a spade a spade. It is rather detrimental that the phenomenon itself cannot be measured, because the concept itself is unclarified, and the use of the term “gipsy” is forbidden in law enforcement.
