Probabilistic Forensic Estimation with Bayes Nets

  • Orbán József

Abstract

Probability based problem solving is becoming more and more widespread in forensic science theory. Bayes’ theorem is represented in a more complex form in the application of the Bayes Nets, which are capable of treating several complicated and uncertain facts at the same time; therefore its practical forensic application can no longer be rightly questioned. The study presents the practical usage of the Bayesian Networks through examples taken from the scientific literature and an earlier fictitious case of the author’s.
