Aliens Policing Issues in 1947

Abstract

The paper presents the conditions of aliens policing in 1946–47 from the prospective of the contemporary Border Guard. Apart from providing a general analysis of the state of affairs, it also describes particular events that took place at the time. The topic also touches upon the complex situation of ethnic minorities and the mass exodus in the East-European region following the war. The study is based on documents issued by the headquarters of the Border Guard accessible at the National Archives of Hungary.
