Abstract

The way crime prevention is perceived in Hungary is full of contradictions. Most people adopt a standpoint that is based on subjective opinion and often emphasizes one-sided attitudes. Crime prevention would almost be non-existent without the cooperation and coordination of the police, so if the police left the field of prevention, everyone would feel its negative effects in a short time. The key to efficient police prevention is the adequate communication of well-prepared, committed professionals. This means that the tools of prevention are always tailored to the needs of the target group and the specific circumstances.
