Training Border Guards in English for Professional Purposes: Uniform Trends in EU Member States
Abstract
The strong emphasis given to the international dimension of (border) policing cooperation and training makes it reasonable to examine the state of English language training since English is the most frequently used language for border policing in the institutions of EU member states. The paper summarises the results of a questionnaire-based survey conducted to investigate the concept, levels, courses and content of English language teaching in the framework of border policing training in EU member states. The conclusions are also compared with the experience gained in Hungary.
