Police Dogs — Past, Present and Possibilities for the Future
Abstract
The paper deals with the evolution of the human-dog relationship from domestication to the appearance of police dogs. After presenting the Hungarian utilization of police dogs and their tasks, the canine olfactory system is described. Demonstrating the current aspects of scent identification line-up, the future possibilities are also mentioned. The paper intends to raise awareness of police dogs, and the role of forensic identification of the human scent as biological evidence.
