Public Perception of the Gravity of Human Trafficking

  • Kubisch Károly

Abstract

The public perception of the gravity of trafficking in human beings is very low in the Hungarian society. Non-governmental organizations (NGO-s) working in the field lack the necessary expertise and funds to convey the real gravity of this crime to society. These shortcomings are also pointed out by the U.S. Department of State Annual Reports and the 4-years strategic document of the Government Decision N. 1351/2013. Examining the application of the concerning rules with a questionnaire based on empirical research, I tried to find the answer how an NGO-worker can interpret, apply, distinguish the concerning law in practice.
