The Practical Relevance of Police Attitudes Toward Drug Addicts in the Social Dimension
Abstract
The main goal of this study is to research the practical relevance of police attitudes toward drug addicts in the context of the relationship between the police officers and the citizens (social dimension). Using the results of scientific research, we research the practical relevance of police attitudes toward drug addicts. Our results show that in cases when a police officer takes action against a drug addict as a service provider, we can find problem categories such as, mistrust, victim blame, multiple victimization, and misconduct, discrimination. When a police officer takes action against a drug addict in a restrictive role, we can find problem categories such as creating criminal image, abuse of power and discrimination, aggression and strengthening of deviance.
