Foreign Border Surveillance Materials as They Were Published in the Interior Ministry Review (1968—1972)
Abstract
At the end of the 60s and the beginning of the 70s there were significant changes in the Hungarian border surveillance. This is when mine fields were cleared, the installation of the Electrical Alarm System was begun and the number of the Border Service corps was increased by almost 1000 people, to almost 18.000, which can be considered significant in the history of the Interior Ministry Border Service. What contributed to the modernization was definitely the publication of the translation of some professional materials from the neighbouring countries (including Germany and the countries of the Socialist Block) in the Internal Ministry Review.
