The Presence of Deviant Behaviour in Segregated Areas

Abstract

The end of communism in Hungary initiated an economic change, which resulted in high unemployment rates, while other people have gained significant financial advantages during the development of capitalism. In certain areas of the country the economy has not recovered and the spread of poverty was accompanied by the migration of the people who live in better financial situations, causing the devaluation of houses. In these areas unemployment, existential insecurity and extreme poverty are permanent and widespread. The opportunities of the people living in underdeveloped regions are limited in regards to education and employment. Financial-based residential segregation weakens the regulatory role of the state, thereby it motivates antisocial behavior. This study aims at presenting the socialization problems and social difficulties of living in segregated areas.
