People Smugglers vs European Union and Hungary
Abstract
With the emergence of mass migration into the EU, the activity of people smugglers has also increased, coupled with the significant growth of the profit they gain. People smuggling is a serious crime, which is typically carried out by international organised criminal groups. The study investigates the international legal bases and the political documents of combating people smuggling. Based on statistical data, it presents and analyses its position in the global scene, in the European Union and in Hungary. It draws the conclusion that the intensity of people smuggling will further increase in the future.
